This is an email from the WA Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society. Those who participate will be able to get a load of firewood for working on the project after paying the $20 USFS permit. This project occurs on a small tract of USFS lands that is actually west of North Bend, basically nobody knows it is USFS owned.

RGS Members,
We will be returning to the Snoqualmie project and continue the work there.  This is a easy project to get to and also visit during the year.  When we began there was no indication of Grouse using the site, since that time members have heard grouse drumming in the spring and last year a male was seen defending his territory on the road going in.

Lunch will be served, and this is a excellent opportunity to get a load of firewood for your home.  We will be supervised while on site and if you are taking wood you must have a Forest service permit. The cost is $20.00 and can be purchase before at the North Bend Forest Service, 902 SE North Bend Way, Building 1, 98045.  They are closed weekends so get your permit before.  We also discovered the highway patrol targets trucks caring firewood in the Issaquah section of I-90
for load covering and load tags.  To be safe and legal have your tag and load covered.

With the usual number of workers, things move pretty fast. Cutting and loading trucks gets done pretty quick.  It's a great way to meet the other members and make friends.

WHAT:  Ruffed Grouse Society habitat work project
WHEN:  Saturday April 27th.
TIME:   9:00
WHERE:  Snoqualmie.   Take exit 27 just east of Issaquah on I-90.  Stay right at the bottom of the exit (do not go left and under I-90) continue on the road till you see the gate to the park and parking lot entrance on your right.  There are two gates here, take the gate to the right.  We will gather as a group at the top of the lot, then proceed though the locked chain gate.  If you come late, it will be left open, but up and appearing to be closed.  Continue down the gravel road till you see the trucks parked.  It's about a 200 yard walk down the two track grass road to the work site.
